      Mentus Recruitment are looking for an experienced Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry to work in an Independent Mental Health hospital in Leicester.
      We are recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client for a Psychiatrist (specialty doctor level) to work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist and full MDT compliment covering a 30 bed, inpatient, rehabilitation hospital.

      Key Responsibilities of the Post
      • A Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry is expected to undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the unit’s multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of the care plan.
      • Prepare reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings, as directed and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist.
      • Participation in learning activities and supervision of other non-consultant doctors and other staff.
      • Participate in Clinical Governance activities, and account for contracted hours utilised in research, Continuing Professional Development and other non-clinical duties as necessary and in a timely manner.
      • Working effectively with colleagues to ensure that clients have access to appropriate medical cover at all times
      • Work on-site. The hospital has a 15-bedded step down from locked rehabilitation unit, a 7 bedded locked rehab ward and a 9 semi independent living apartments. The post holder will be expected to support the GP in delivering physical health care and emergency treatment to patients in complex care.
      • Support the Consultant and GP in delivering a consistently high standard of medical care to all patients on-site.
      • Ensure physical observations by ward staff are carried out in accordance with medical instructions. Review physical observation findings and act upon them in a clinically appropriate manner.
      • Carry out any other duties considered to be commensurate with the level of the post.
      • Actively participate in the development, review and implementation of the hospitals and local unit policies and procedures.
      • Work closely with the Hospital Director, and other service managers and be involved in the planning and delivering of services for the patient group
      • Take part in appropriate audit/R & D activities and perform the administrative duties expected of the post.

      Qualifications and Experience
      • MBBS qualification, or equivalent,
      • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
      • Section 12 approval is desirable.
      • Be able to demonstrate evidence of foundation training and competencies (or equivalent) including experience working within the field of psychiatry.
      • Have experience working within a secure and/or step-down setting, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team would be advantageous.
      • Be able to operate mainly independently. The role has a considerable degree of autonomy and authority. The impact of professional judgements and decisions will be significant within the unit and could potentially influence the development of acute and complex services throughout.
      • Be required to maintain knowledge of the latest research and developments within the relevant fields in order to evaluate, test and implement new techniques, methods and interventions which improve and enhance services.
