Locum Consultant in Adult Psychiatry
We are seeking a Locum Consultant in Adult Psychiatry for a private healthcare provider in the center of Birmingham. This is an exciting role is to cover a 20 bedded male, low secure ward with specialty doctor support. This is a long term role for a locum consultant to cover a vacant post.
Experience in Adult or Forensic secure services is essential. The hospital is supported by an experienced physical health team, MDT including a range of psychologists and therapist and a full nursing team.

Job Description:
- The Locum Consultant Psychiatrist will oversee the medical leadership of the ward and be the responsible clinician for the patients on the ward.
- Alongside the specialty doctor on the ward, you will oversee assessments of new referrals to the ward and undertake mental state examinations of service users
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
- Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
- Participate in ward rounds
- Complete all reports and paperwork in a professional way and within efficient time frames.
Qualifications:
- Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
- Section 12 and AC Status – Essential
- Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR)- Desirable
- Experienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
- Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
- A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
